DPL Conducts Its Annual MBTI Workshop for New Rebels
DPL held its annual MBTI workshop as part of its ongoing efforts to empower the new additions to its workforce. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Muhammad Qamar-ul Hassan, Founder of Qamar Consulting and a renowned personality type scientist, author, and leadership development coach.
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a widely used personality assessment tool designed to identify a person’s preferences and personality’s strengths and shortcomings.
By combining the following pairs of opposing traits, the MBTI identifies 16 unique personality types:
- Extraversion (E) versus Introversion (I) – Extroverts tend to draw energy from social interactions and prefer action and active engagement. On the other hand, introverts recharge through solitude and prefer reflection and deliberate contemplation.
- Sensing (S) versus Intuition (N) – People who ‘sense’ will always opt for concrete facts and details. They’re practical, focusing on present realities and tangible information. On the contrary, intuitive people are more likely to choose patterns and possibilities. They focus on future potentials and overarching meanings.
- Thinking (T) versus Feeling (F) – A ‘Thinking’ personality tends to base decisions on logic, objectivity, and factual analysis. That way, they can ensure fairness and consistency. Meanwhile, ‘Feeling’ personalities are guided by empathy and personal values. That’s why they prioritize relationships and individual needs.
- Judging (J) versus Perceiving (P) – Whereas a ‘Judging’ personality type prefers structure, planning, and organization, a ‘Perceiving’ type thrives in flexibility, spontaneity, and exploratory approaches.
“The 16 MBTI personality types reflect unique combinations of preferences in energy, perception, decision-making, and lifestyle,” explained Dr. M. Qamar-ul-Hassan. “They’re the key to enhancing one’s self-awareness because they clarify strengths, challenges, and emotional patterns. Therefore, they deliver insight into why individuals think, feel, and behave the way they do.”
Explaining why the MBTI workshop is important for newly hired Rebels, DPL CEO Syed Ahmad commented, “Understanding MBTI has been a game-changer for our company. It empowers our teams to collaborate more effectively by recognizing and embracing diverse strengths and perspectives.”
“By improving communication and fostering mutual understanding, we unlock the full potential of our people, driving innovation, creativity, and success in every project we undertake,” he added.
During the interactive two-day workshop, new Rebels were able to identify their strengths and areas of improvement. Results of the test further help their team leads bond more effectively with them to empower their future growth.
