EmpowerHER Welcomes New Members to Advance Inclusion and Innovation at DPL
EmpowerHER announced the addition of two new members to help carry on its vision of fostering a more inclusive and supportive workplace. Joining the committee are senior business analyst Samiya and senior QA engineer Tayyaba.
Established in September 2023, EmpowerHER is a dynamic leadership group dedicated to empowering and uplifting female Rebels. It aims to inspire positive change and help unleash the boundless potential of women at DPL via workshops and awareness campaigns.
Other duties the committee has been entrusted with are –
- Supporting new and existing female Rebels through work, culture, and personal challenges
- Highlighting the successes and contributions of female Rebels
- Organizing events a quarterly basis to engage and train female Rebels
Explaining its purpose, CEO and founder Syed Ahmad said, “At DPL, we believe that empowering female Rebels is essential for growth, innovation, and resilience. Through this initiative, we can better meet the needs of our female workforce while ensuring their voices are heard, valued, and leveraged. Only then can we truly achieve a culture where every talent thrives.”
Since its creation, EmpowerHER has conducted regular meetups to connect female Rebels from different functions and teams. The committee has also hosted guest speakers to inspire women to tackle their unique challenges with confidence and strength.
In addition, the committee’s impact has extended company-wide through events such as the 2024 Pinktober Bake Sale and breast cancer-related session.
According to former member Marwa from the recruitment team, involving the workforce as a whole is imperative. “The participation of male Rebels fosters inclusivity, breaking gender biases and promoting allyship. It further encourages mutual understanding, and drives shared responsibility for equity.”
The newly elected members will be onboarded this week to ensure they carry out its vision effectively. Commenting on the new additions, pioneering member software engineer (mobile) Swair said, “We look forward for new members to bring a wealth of talent, ideas, and perspectives to the committee. We firmly believe their contributions will strengthen our mission by driving initiatives that support professional development as well as DPL’s culture.”
