DPL Inspires Future Tech Innovators across Top Universities
Driven to inspire future innovators, DPL conducted seminars at nine universities in Islamabad and Rawalpindi throughout September and October 2024. Hundreds of students attended to benefit from our industry, software, and culture insights.
DPL is dedicated to transforming Pakistan’s IT sector by encouraging outside-the-box thinking. Last year, we appeared at Air University, NUST, FAST-NUCES, and QAU to educate budding software engineers about Agile business practices.
This year, we took our duty as educators even further. Our speakers explored important topics in the tech industry, from 4IR technology and software development to Agile project management. Decades of practical experience make our team uniquely qualified to deliver up-to-date, practical insights on the IT industry.
About DPL’s objective in rolling out this initiative, CEO Syed Ahmad said, “All children are born creative. It’s society that takes away our originality and tells us how we are supposed to act. DPL aspires to empower Pakistani youth to embrace new technologies and new ways of working with curiosity, adaptability, innovation, and ethics.”
Marketing lead Muhammad Shahrukh Satti, who organized and spoke in several seminars, added, “There is a fear-based culture in the academic sector that deters students from asking questions and challenging conventions. That fear is reinforced when students do internships at corporate companies that discourage innovation. We are on a mission to bring our knowledge to academia, enabling students to make a smooth transition to the IT industry.”
Seminar at Air University: Industrial Revolutions and 4IR Technologies
DPL introduced the students at Air University to 4IR technologies and their impact. Understanding how industrial revolutions happen and why new technologies emerge is the first step in predicting market evolution.
Air University students left the lecture hall prepared for the fact that their future jobs will demand constant adaptation.
Seminar at FAST-NUCES and SS-CASE-IT: Business Ethics in the IT Industry
At two universities, DPL spoke against the dog-eat-dog mentality that dominates Pakistan’s infrastructure. These universities were the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (FAST-NUCES) and Sir Syed CASE Institute of Technology (SS-CASE-IT).
This topic covered everything from IT industry scams to the pitfalls of capitalism. We aimed to deliver both a warning against complacency and a clarion call for ethical earning.
Seminar at NUML: Servant Leadership in Agile
DPL’s journey from corporate to Agile was a controversial one, breaking the mold in Pakistan. Our seminar at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) exemplified DPL’s success story to promote flat hierarchy and people empowerment.
We hope that we inspired students to be part of a wider change in reforming Pakistan’s traditional corporate structure.
Seminar at BIIT, PAF-IAST, and NUST: Holacracy and Counterculture
As DPL’s crown jewel, the concept of counterculture is so important to us that we presented it at three universities: Barani Institute of Information Technology (BIIT), Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (PAF-IAST), and National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST).
Through this lecture series, DPL revealed how social pressure can restrict freedom of thought. Our goal was to help students better understand why Agile methodology is the future of innovation.
Seminar at QAU: IoT Applications and Firmware Development
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a rapidly growing market with millions of eager consumers worldwide. Our dive into its apps and firmware architecture left Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) students with a good foundation for this emerging technology.
Seminar at PMAS-AAUR: Software Application Development
For students at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR), DPL offered a primer on Agile software development. Using IoT apps as an example, we prepared students for the complex projects they will face in their career.
We look forward to delivering more seminars in the future for Pakistan’s next generation of tech talent. Keep an eye on our Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, and Facebook for further details.
