DPL Hosts Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia to Discuss the Future of IT Export

DPL welcomed Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia along with Islamabad’s tech industry’s leaders at its headquarters on January 20^th. The meeting aimed to offer workable solutions to the challenges faced by businesses looking to expand into KSA.

Appointed as the ambassador since May 2023, His Excellency Ahmad Farooq is a prominent figure in the Foreign Services of Pakistan. Over the past 25 years, he has played a major role in counter terrorism and ensuring political peace in Pakistan. In addition to representing Pakistan in the UN, he served in Los Angeles, Rome, and Denmark.

H.E. Ahmad Farooq has been quite vocal about Pakistan’s need to quickly adapt and help the Kingdom achieve its Vision 2030. Especially when it comes to technology as the Kingdom is continuously investing billions of dollars to become a regional IT hub.

“Companies from around the world are securing lucrative contracts, and Pakistan must also seize this opportunity,” he told members of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI). According to the Express Tribune, he highlighted how exports to KSA have increased by 40% in 2023-2024, with IT leading at 50%.

During the session at DPL, His Excellency reiterated his support to facilitate the growth of Pakistan’s IT exports to KSA. He further offered his insights to ensure real-world solutions. Attendees too shared their own experiences and obstacles, establishing a practical dialog and an inspirational roadmap.

Commenting on the event, DPL’s CEO Syed Ahmad said, “The expansion of Pakistani IT companies into Saudi Arabia marks a new era of growth and collaboration. With Pakistan’s tech talent and innovation, combined with Saudi Arabia’s vision for digital transformation, we see immense opportunities for partnerships, investment, and technological excellence. And with what was covered in today’s session, we now have the basics to begin working towards these goals.
